River Wey
REMAINING WATCHFUL St Catherines Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. A river that had recently been on high flood alert as the forces of nature reminded us of its power. On this night clouds decided to temporarily break up allowing me to also look up at the beauty of a star lit sky. And as I took in the view more deeply; I could not help but see the great Orion as if he himself was keeping a watchful eye on the recent flood alerts on the River Wey.
UNDER THE MOON LIGHT River Wey, Godalming, Surrey, UK A night of complete calmness along the River Wey. Temperatures freshly dropped as the soft luminance of moonlight made the landscape appear so delicately. The river calmly continued to flow by as the surface appeared distilled due to a drop in the wind; making being here feel deeply reflective, peaceful and at one with nature.
SOLITUDE River Wey, Godalming, Surrey, UK. A tree that seemed to stand quietly and proudly on its own on this calm moonlit night; almost as if it was watching the steady flow of the river in a time of self-reflection. I have found some times of choosing to be alone can be so positively effective for the mind; time for reflection and mentally recharging.
RIVER WEY TRANQUILITY St Catherines Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. I could never get bored with just how soothing it can be under a cloudless sky on a warm summer’s night. Despite surrounded by so many urban lit towns and estates; being out long enough to allow your eyes to adjust to darkness you can still be gifted to being able to see the soft twinkles of the star lit sky. A time to ponder, to reflect and to feel at peace along the river banks.
AUTUMNAL RIVER WEY River Wey, Guildford, Surrey, UK. Despite a day of grey clouds and rain these beautiful soft and warming autumnal colours along the banks of the River Wey close to home truly caught my eye in such a soothing way.
OPTIMISTIC OAKS St Catherines Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. These oaks appeared to stand proudly; freely reaching for the vastness of the night sky. And just to think all the weather and regular winter floods they have endured; yet there they stand with such brave character next to the river.
RIVER WEY NIGHT SERENITY River Wey, Broadford Bridge, Shalford, Surrey, UK. On this fresh and cold night, the neighbouring industrial lights seem to warmly glow the banks of river. Being so late; most of the town was asleep as not even many cars passed the near by bridge; arousing such a sense of quietude as the stars twinkled above the gentle flow of the River Wey.
SOOTHED UNDER MOONLIGHT River Wey, Godalming, Surrey, UK. There was just something so calming about being by the river on this fresh moonlit January night. As blankets of mist slowly drifted across the meadows; the contrast of the scene just seemed to be softened. Safe to say; any modern life stresses I had felt prior to arriving here seemed to be soothed by just being present and taking in this wonderful River Wey Landscape.
GUIDING THE WAY St Catherines Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. Just like life itself; there are times when you just can’t predict what will happen the next day or what the direction your life will take next….; but even in times of darkness there will be moments when small source of light will lead the way; your next path to take in life. This scene reminds me about moments when the best, sometimes the only path to take; will become clear to see, and belief that you are guided by someone or something. This instance; the great constellation of Orion was overlooking, guiding and further directing the next route to keep pursuing.
MEANDERING SOFTLY River Wey, Godalming, Surrey, UK. A cold and crisp winters night, as temperatures dropped rapidly to minus figures on this clear moonlit night along the River Wey. There was just something so refreshing and tranquil as I stood by watching the river meandering so peacefully and in harmony past the tree.
TILFORD BRIDGE AT NIGHT Tilford Bridge, Tilford, Surrey, Uk. A medieval bridge with such proud character across the river Wey on this damp cloudy night. Illuminated by urban lights made the sky look like a golden blanket as the bridge, that has undoubtedly many tales to tell, still appeared to stand triumphantly as modern vehicles still use it to this day.
GHOSTLY St Catherines Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. A soothing night when temperatures dropped and shallow yet dense blankets of mist had formed upon the neighbouring fields of the river. It was not just one static carpet of mist either; as it was multiple dense sections that were constantly drifting from right to left with their presence further highlighted by the moon light. And amongst this stood this aged oak with character appearing as if it were trying to reach away from the spirits that drifted around its base. A night that truly sparked my imagination.
KEEP LOOKING FORWARD St Catherines Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. Through life we all find places we will visit when needing a temporary escape, time alone to think, maybe reflect, reset and refresh our thoughts. Yet so important to keep focusing on the here and now to ensure we are moving on a personal journey that leads us to a light we are seeking. This became my place for finding solitude and reminding myself to keep looking forward in life; ensuring I stop to take onboard and cherish the moments that have reminded me I’m on the right path.
St CATHERINES LOCK PATH TO THE MILKY WAY St Catherines Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. The path had directly led my eyes to the Milky way which was trying so hard to be seen faintly against the sky bleeding lights of nearby towns. They say that not everything in life is a straight forward path; twists and turns, unforeseen obstacles that will always arise when chasing a dream in life. Even if the dream is hard to clearly see; keep following the path and you will eventually arrive at your destination. Even the faintest and smallest beacons of light can provide you so much hope if you’re willing to pursue it.
NOCTURNAL CALMNESS ON THE WEY River Wey, Godalming, Surrey, UK. Nearby roads had quietened down and so too did the number of walkers on this fresh December night. No breeze and a faint mist that had begun to slowly rise seemed to further soften the surrounding atmosphere on this moonlit night along the banks of the River Wey.
GLISTENING RIVER WEY St Catherines Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. On this cold and crisp star lit night the river just became so calm and allowing reflections to be seen so clearly. Not far from the town; yet the atmosphere here feeling so fresh and pleasantly serene.
WEEPING WONDROUSLY UNDER MOONLIGHT River Wey, Guildford, Surrey, UK. On this fresh moonlit night my eyes were caught by the line off willow trees; all looked as they were in rhythm and performing a dance along the banks of the river. Nature has this magical way of portraying such fluent energy; even if at first glance it all just appears still. It may have been a cold night; but I couldn’t help feel this touch of warmth seeing this with the willows.
AN ETHEREAL GLOW St Catherine's Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. A fresh moonlit night as these low blankets of mist slowly appeared to delicately drift across the river. The atmosphere just feeling so calm and at ease as the two old riverside oaks would allow the mist to pass by peacefully.
NOCTURNAL REFLECTIONS River Wey, Godalming, Surrey, UK. These unique individual trees appeared as if they were reaching for the calmness of the gentle flowing river on this bright moonlit night. The atmosphere itself feeling as if it may be a snippet from the past before urbanisation even existed; where a deep sense of stillness across this landscape made the whole scene so tranquil and emotionally uplifting.
ENCHANTED EASHING BRIDGE Eashing Bridge, Godalming, Surrey, UK. A stunning medieval bridge with such amazing character and undoubtedly; a few stories to tell from the past. As the reflections from the light trails twinkled in the river on this night; it just seemed to stir such a magical feeling as this beautiful bridge from the past still stands proudly.
MYSTERIOUS St Catherines Lock, Guildford, Surrey, UK. A night when my imagination was softly stirred by the low passing mist blankets across the river; it may have been cold in temperature yet somehow the absorbed industrial lighting seemed so warming, so inviting and healing as it softly dispersed amongst the drifting mist.
