Landscapes in Black and White
ENDURING Under the stormy skies and against the waves of a rough sea; these wooden post remains appeared to stand bravely against the test of time and weather. Brighstone, Isle of Wight, UK
THE TIDE HAS TURNED B&W Our planet, nature; shall always be in a constant state of movement and change. Times when natural energy can appear and feel so soft, delicate and gentle; where it can even be hard to notice at a quick glance. Other times when nature can seem as if it has just energetically and uncontrollably awoken in so many different ways. A night of strong winds and rain along the coastline; yet it felt refreshing being out experiencing it. There was also something deeply soothing as the sound of crashing waves continued to surge further up the beachfront during the incoming tide. Shanklin, Isle of Wight, UK,
KEEP REACHING B&W An old tree that clearly is the state of decomposition, weathering and in the cycle of natural decay. Yet despite this it appeared so beautiful and intriguing to the eye, and as I looked at it during this moment; it still appeared as if it was making the most of reaching for and pointing to the stars. Processed in Black and white had this way of further increasing the visual contrast as the old tree seemed to be reaching for light amongst the dark. Isle of Wight, UK
TO INFINITY B&W In our life on this planet; each personal goal, desired destination; each dream or ambition eventually comes to an end; whether we reach it or not. The joy can be found along the journeys we choose to take through life. But when we stop to look beyond our planet, beyond the solar system; we are constantly reminded of the mystical uncertainty of what else is really out there and just how far it goes? Shanklin, Isle of Wight, UK,
MOON BEHIND COMMON FIELD TREE Drawn in by the shadows created by moon light, where it even appears if it is an eye of the tree itself, branching, reaching for the night sky. It may be considered a common, but really can offer so much imaginative beauty if your willing to look and feel deep enough. Guildford, Surrey, UK.
MOMENTARILY ENTRANCED B&W Everything just seemed to fall into place at the right time of this temporary moment as the tide continued to come back in. Captivated and mesmerised by the stunning twinkles of the stars, such a reminder how our planet is such a small piece of a bigger jigsaw. Shanklin, Isle of Wight, UK.
REACHING B&W It had been a cold and foggy night as I strolled through the woods at dawn. There were two things that caught my imagination here; firstly, appearing is these trees were trying to reach free of the woods and above the fog. Secondly; as if these trees were working in harmony and with rhythm with one another, almost if they were all dancing at the same time. The joys of letting imagination wonder when amongst nature. (Processed in Black and White.) Newlands Corner, Guildford, Surrey, UK.
SPRING WHISPERS Although these fields were a golden yellow in colour; when processed in black and white the contrast between the landscape and sky truly caught my eye. The diffused look of the soft streaks in the clouds felt like the sky was talking so softly and quietly over the visual powers of spring on the ground. Guildford, Surrey, UK.
STANDING ALONE BW; An oak tree that was standing firmly against the natural energy of a spring field and the continuous movement of the clouds in the sky. Amazing just how strong something so quiet can be, Guildford, Surrey, UK.
STILL STANDING PROUDLY BW Despite being in the process of slowly breaking down through natural cycles and elements; this old aged decaying tree stump appeared to still proudly be reaching for the magic of the clear star lit night. Processed in black and white just seemed to increase the visual power of reaching for the light amongst dark. Shanklin, Isle of Wight, UK,
THE MAGICAL STRAWBERRY GROVE B&W This woodland has always been there for me through out my life; times of wonder and fascination, times in need for inspiration both in life and my own journey with art, times in need of peaceful solitude, during times of distress, upset and uncertainty. The magic of this small common land woods still stands despite the ever-growing neighbouring estate and industrial park, and although not the highest rated place to visit; it shall always be one of the most important places to me and I’m sure many others too! Strawberry Grove, Guildford, Surrey, UK.
TRANQUIL MOONLIT CHANTRIES FIELD B&W A night when thick blankets of mist drifted through the lower grounds on this calming night under moon light. There was a very softening atmosphere as I sat in peace just on the edge of the closest mist blanket that had slowly absorbed the path I had travelled to get here. Chantry Woods, Guildford, Surrey, UK
WEEPING WONDROUSLY UNDER MOONLIGHT B&W On this fresh moonlit night my eyes were caught by the line of willow trees; all looked as they were in rhythm and performing a dance along the banks of the river. Nature has this magical way of portraying such fluent energy; even if at first glance it all just appears still. River Wey, Guildford, Surrey, UK.
